way to get a prescription to him- (friends were out of town or working) and

Kindness

Every once in a while I read something that inspires me. This one did.
Some folks were confused and thought he was nuts. One player said, Coach, why are we doing this? Hogan said, Imagine you dont have a home life, no one to love you, no one pulling for you. Imagine that everyone pretty much had given up on you. Now, imagine what it would feel like and mean to you for hundreds of people to suddenly believe in you.
The idea took root. On the night of the game, imagine the surprise of those 14 players when they took the field and there was a banner the cheerleaders had made for them to crash through. The visitors stands were full. The cheerleaders were leading cheers for them. The fans were calling them by their names. Isaiah, the quarterback-middle linebacker said, I never in my life thought I would hear parents cheering to tackle and hit their kid. Most of the time, when we come out, people are afraid of us. You can see it in their eyes, but these people are yelling for us. They knew our names.
Faith won the game, and after the game the teams gathered at the 50-yard line to pray. Thats when Isaiah, the teenage convict-quarterback surprised everybody and asked if he could pray and he prayed, Lord, I dont know what just happened so I dont know how or who to say thank you to, but I never knew there were so many people in the world who cared about us. On the way back to the bus, under guard, each one of the players was handed a burger, fries, a coke, candy, a Bible, and an encouraging letter from the players from Faith Academy ..
What an incredible act of Christian witness and kindness and goodness that was. Proverbs 11:17 says, Your own soul is nourished when you are kind. Proverbs 3:27 says, Do not withhold good when it is in your power to act.

Waiting at DMV

Did you know that you have to turn in the original plates at DMV to take possession of personalized plates?

You have to also bring in the registration for the vehicle.

I Become Familiar with the Local Businesses

I interact with the owners and operators of many local businesses in the course of a simple errand and this gives me a great opportunity to meet new people and discover the many small businesses in the area. Presented with a task for a service, I must be able to make quick decisions and choices to make the errand affordable for the client. This involves becoming familiar with the local hours of operation, the owner or manager’s name and the availability of the stock on hand.
I have discovered that because many businesses have closed, that I cannot always be sure of resources for services that my customers need. I recently had met a local sewing machine repair business, but this week, it was no longer there.

I was recently asked: Are there any errands I cannot do?

The obvious answer is yes. What may not be so obvious is what I cannot do at this time. So, I created a short list:

I cannot transport hazardous materials.

I can, however, help find those that can transport and dispose of your hazardous materials.

I cannot transport people in need of urgent medical care.

I can, call emergency services and wait with you for them to arrive.

Most everything else is doable. Just call for a quote.

Oregon calling

I love when I am able to facilitate a delivery for an out of state client. Recently a client in Oregon called for a Valencia pickup and Agua Dulce delivery. We were able to complete it on the same day. The detailed request included special handling.

When a client calls from out of state, I must make the decisions regarding how the delivery can be made while all of the client’s needs are considered. They may not know the area and the services available. It is my job to locate the best solution and match it to the need. In this case, choosing a pickup location near to the materials pickup made this job go smoothly.

A broken leg needed my help

I got a call from a woman who broke her leg and needed me to feed her cats, pick up her mail, and take care of errands she had scheduled.

What made it especially urgent was that she was 45-minutes across town when she broke her leg and had no way of securing her house and feeding her cats while she was being admitted to the hospital for a 2-night stay. The stay plus surgery meant that she would not be able to attend to the already growing to-do list she had for the week.

How was I able to help? I met her at the hospital, got a list of things she needed from the house, fed her cats, got her prescription filled, and took care of the errands she had to do that day the for the next 4 days until she could get around on crutches. Her husband was out of town and she didn’t have friends available that could help at the time. Without me delivering her charge cord, she said her mobile phone would have ran out of battery during the evening and she would have had no way of taking care of her calls and emails she needed to get done. She said that having me around really made her life a lot easier so she could actually rest in the hospital.

Accidents happen. And even though you are in a hospital close to home, there are things that you need with you and things you need to get done while you are confined to a bed. I can do that for you. View my services page for pricing information.
